The Wisdom of the Workout
In a mountain environment, the sports we play and the lives we lead require spontaneity. Both life and sport are unpredictable. We need to react swiftly, while remaining balanced and centered. Our workouts should reflect these needs.
The Mountain Sport Conditioning Method SM was specifically designed for all mountain athletes, recreational and professional. But like the sports we love, it is a dynamic, evolving system, one that will constantly grow and develop. Mountain Sport Conditioning is unique in that the loyalties of the method are to the specific needs of the student.
Rather than mindlessly following a formulaic progression mandated by a trendy "system," the Mountain Sport Conditioning Method has evolved from the best practices of many different systems. Core activation, muscle balance, postural alignment and dynamic balance are the prerequisites for achieving the agility needed for athleticism. Pilates-evolved mat work, which is blended with touches of Feldenkrais, post rehab exercise, and other body alignment methods set the foundation for the Mountain Sport Conditioning Method.
The fundamental principles of Pilates are implemented in all our classes. We believe that centering; mindful movement, fluidity, and precision are crucial to the effectiveness of any sort of training. Therefore, we apply these principles to our sport conditioning, strength training and prenatal classes. Likewise, we apply current research findings in Sports Medicine to our Pilates classes. |
